Amy’s Hens Day!
Date: April 2014
Location: Gold Coast, Australia
My hen’s night was 3 weeks out from the big day as I knew I wouldn’t be able to relax and have fun any closer to the day (Oh and also because my future husband to-be decided to take a four day holiday the weekend prior to the wedding). In reality though, I am a self-confessed control freak, I like to be in control and know what’s going on and when and where and by who… and so on. Nothing wrong with that is there? Well, if you have ever organized a wedding AND your own hens’ night, then you know it can be slightly overwhelming! As I wasn’t having any bridesmaids, I thought the best person for the job was, well, me! But I caved in and I reined in a beautiful friend and my mum to assist me. They made the invites, organized the entertainment and did the hardest job of chasing who was coming.
The day kicked off with a early morning make-up and hair trial for the wedding, which was perfect as I am now ready to go for tonight. I just needed to get dressed! I kissed hubby to-be and the kids goodbye and set off for a night of freedom! Off to Woolies to get all the goodies, chips, dip, crackers, cheese, alcohol, more alcohol and just a little more alcohol.
Next it was time to check into the Hotel we had booked for the night. The Hilton on the Gold Coast. I was so excited! Once we were in, it was a mad rush to blow up balloons, hang decorations, rearrange the room and prep the food to be ready for the start of the night.
We all met at a pamper salon close to the Hotel to get pedicures! And of course I had a beautiful bottle of ‘proper’ champagne for everyone to enjoy. Only the best on the hen’s night! It was a great way to start the evening as we all got chatting whilst getting pampered at the same time! The only downside was that the place was running a little behind so put our plans back a little. So we probably should have allowed a little more time for this.
With our perfect and pretty feet, it was back to the hotel to really get this party started! And started it did when our very own Butler in the Buff, Shanon arrived! Wow….that was about all that was going through my mind with a half naked, very good looking man standing in front of me! But I think I managed to get through a semi normal conversation. He worked his magic with the cocktails and soon we were all sipping on Margaritas. With the music going, conversation flowing and a little perving, this party was fantastic! Next it was time for the all important hen’s party games. Going through the alphabet, we each had to finish the sentence “My vagina is …” What a laugh! The last and funniest game was ‘Kiss the penis on the butler’…. Don’t worry, it was just a poster! But little did I know that when it was my turn and after I was blindfolded, the butler stood in front of the poster with his bare bottom facing me! After the shock subsided, I managed to give it a little peck. Unfortunately it was now time to say goodbye to Shanon, if only we had him longer! Definitely worth it!
After all that excitement, we had worked up an appetite so that meant it was time forBenihana Teppenyaki in Surfers Paradise. What a fantastic place that is. Great food, excellent entertainment when they had us all singing and clapping along! And my very own penis desert… A banana with strawberries and caramel sauce strategically poured over the top of the banana!
The night was getting on, so after some guests went home and others back to the hotel, there was only two of us left. And I wasn’t calling it quits yet! Off we staggered into the nightclub strip and managed to make it in to one and stay there for a few hours of fun. My feet were begging me to give it up, so finally I decided to listen. Hobbling back to the hotel and into our beds, I had a 5 second reflection about the night before my eyes took over and willed me to sleep. And sleep I did.
